Frequently Asked Questions
General
Why Won't My DIY Lashes Stick?
The most common cause is using too much or too little adhesive. Apply a thin, even layer of bond to the base of your natural lashes (not your skin), wait 10–20 seconds until it becomes tacky, then place the lash cluster securely against your natural lashes. Finish with sealant to lock everything in place.
Why Is My Lash Bond Clumping?
Your DIY lash adhesive bond may become slightly thicker or clumpy if the tube is not sealed tightly after use.
Because iLash Mafia DIY lash adhesive bond is formulated to dry quickly and create a long-lasting hold, exposure to air can gradually change its consistency.
To keep your bond in the best condition, always wipe the nozzle clean and close the tube tightly immediately after each use. Store it upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Why Do My DIY Lashes Feel Heavy?
Your iLash Mafia DIY Lash Extensions are designed to feel lightweight and comfortable. If you're new to DIY lashes, it's normal to notice them for the first day or two. As you get used to wearing them, they should feel much more natural.
If your lashes still feel heavy or uncomfortable after a few days, one of the following may be the cause:
1. Too Much Bond Was Applied
The most common reason DIY lashes feel heavy is using too much bond. A thin, even layer is all you need for a secure, long-lasting hold.
2. The Lash Clusters Are Placed Too Close to the Skin and the Waterline
For the most comfortable fit, apply each lash cluster approximately 1mm above your natural lash line, ensuring it doesn't touch your skin or waterline.
3. The Lash Style Is Too Full for Your Natural Lashes
If your lashes still feel heavy, try switching to a lighter style or using fewer lash clusters to create a softer, more comfortable look.
4. The Lash Clusters Are Too Wide for Your Eye Shape
If needed, you can carefully trim the lash clusters into smaller sections using fine-tip scissors. Smaller clusters are lighter, easier to apply, and can provide a more customized fit.
With the correct amount of bond and proper placement, your DIY lashes should feel lightweight, comfortable, and secure throughout wear.
How Do I Apply DIY Lash Clusters?
iLash Mafia DIY Lash Extensions are designed for over-the-lash application and can be customized to create natural, doll eye, cat eye, and soft volume lash styles.
Prep Your Lashes
Clean your lashes and gently curl them with a lash curler.
Using the iLash Mafia Lash Applicator, remove each lash cluster from the tray by gripping it from the middle or base area. Avoid pulling from the tips.
How to Apply
Lash application begins from the outer corner of the eye.
Step 1: Apply a small amount of either iLash Mafia DIY Lash Adhesive (for extended wear) or Black Lash Adhesive (for single-day wear) to your natural lashes, concentrating the bond on the base of your lashes. Wait until tacky (10-15 seconds).
Step 2:
Position each lash cluster on top of your natural lashes, starting from the outer corner and working inward.
Step 3:
Gently fuse the lash clusters and natural lashes together using your fingers or the iLash Mafia Lash Applicator.
Step 4: Seal the lashes (for extended wear) by swiping a thin layer of iLash Mafia Lash Sealant.
Tip: Use 5-6 lash clusters per eye for a full lash extension look, or 2-3 lash clusters per eye to create a half-lash effect.
Important: iLash Mafia lash segments are designed to be applied on top of the natural lashes. Applying lash segments underneath the lash line may cause irritation, discomfort, or eye redness.
How Do I Remove DIY Lashes?
Step 1: Start with clean, dry eyes. Remove any makeup, skincare, or oils from the eye area to help the remover work effectively.
Step 2: Apply iLash Mafia DIY Lash Remover by brushing it through the lash clusters from the base to the tips. Repeat as needed until the DIY lash extensions begin to loosen and slide off easily.
Tip: Be patient. If the lash clusters do not slide off immediately, apply additional remover and allow it to sit for several minutes. Do not pull or tug on the lashes. Focus the remover on the adhesive area rather than the lash tips.

Why Is My Lash Applicator Sticking to My Lashes?
If your lash applicator sticks to your lashes while sealing, it's usually because lash adhesive has transferred onto the applicator.
To prevent this, apply a small amount of sealant to the tips of your lash applicator before gently squeezing your natural lashes and lash clusters together. This creates a barrier that helps prevent the applicator from sticking to the adhesive.
For the best results, apply only a thin layer of lash adhesive, as using too much adhesive increases the likelihood of the applicator sticking.
Can I Cut My DIY Lash Clusters?
Absolutely! One of the biggest benefits of iLash Mafia DIY Lash Segments is that they're fully customizable, allowing you to create a lash look that's uniquely yours.
Here are a few ways to customize your lashes:
1. You can double stack them to give a cat eye look! To achieve a cat eye look, do not put any lash segments on the inner corner of your eye. Start from about halfway and double stack the ends!
2. You can trim them (please only trim the width if needed to fit your eye shape if needed, do not trim the length as this will result in an unnatural look).
3. You can use less segments (e.g. you can use only 2 or 3 segments instead of 4 to give a subtle cat eye look or to look more natural. This works best with the "Light" style of lashes).
4. Mix and match different iLash Mafia DIY Lash Segment styles (do not mix with other brand eyelashes as the textures will look different).
What Should I Do If a Lash Cluster Falls Off?
If a lash cluster falls off, there's no need to remove your entire lash set. Simply remove any remaining lash adhesive from your natural lashes, apply a thin layer of DIY lash glue, and reapply a new lash cluster in the same position.
To help prevent lash clusters from lifting, avoid applying too much lash adhesive, keep oil-based products away from your lashes, and follow the recommended aftercare instructions. With proper application and care, your DIY lash extensions will stay secure and comfortable for longer.
