Application

Bestie DIY Lash Extensions are designed for over-the-lash application and can be customized to create natural, doll eye, cat eye, and soft volume lash styles.

Prep Your Lashes

Clean your lashes and gently curl them with a lash curler.

Using the iLash Mafia Lash Applicator, remove each lash cluster from the tray by gripping it from the middle or base area. Avoid pulling from the tips.

How to Apply

Lash application begins from the outer corner of the eye.
Step 1: Apply a small amount of either iLash Mafia DIY Lash Adhesive (for extended wear) or Black Lash Adhesive (for single-day wear) to your natural lashes, concentrating the bond on the base of your lashes. Wait until tacky (10-15 seconds).

Step 2:
Position each lash cluster on top of your natural lashes, starting from the outer corner and working inward.

Step 3:
Gently fuse the lash clusters and natural lashes together using your fingers or the iLash Mafia Lash Applicator.

Step 4: Seal the lashes (for extended wear) by swiping a thin layer of iLash Mafia Lash Sealant.

Tip: Use 5-6 lash clusters per eye for a full lash extension look, or 2-3 lash clusters per eye to create a half-lash effect.

Important: iLash Mafia lash segments are designed to be applied on top of the natural lashes. Applying lash segments underneath the lash line may cause irritation, discomfort, or eye redness.

Removal & Care

DIY Lash Removal

Step 1: Start with clean, dry eyes. Remove any makeup, skincare, or oils from the eye area to help the remover work effectively.

Step 2: Apply iLash Mafia DIY Lash Remover by brushing it through the lash clusters from the base to the tips. Repeat as needed until the DIY lash extensions begin to loosen and slide off easily.

Tip: Be patient. If the lash clusters do not slide off immediately, apply additional remover and allow it to sit for several minutes. Do not pull or tug on the lashes. Focus the remover on the adhesive area rather than the lash tips.

DIY Lash Segment Aftercare

Step 1: Remove any remaining adhesive from the lash segments. Hold the lash segment with iLash Mafia Lash Tweezers and gently peel away leftover glue from the band using your fingers or a cotton swab.

Step 2: Apply an oil-free makeup remover or micellar water to a lint-free brush and gently remove any makeup residue or debris from the lash clusters. Rinse lightly with water.

Step 3: Place the lash segments on a soft tissue or paper towel and allow them to air dry completely before storing.

Can I apply DIY lashes on top of eyelash extensions?

We do not recommend wearing iLash Mafia lashes if you have eyelash extensions.

DIY lashes/clusters need a surface to grip onto, and when they’re placed over lash extensions, they can:

Pull on the extensions
Cause twisting or premature fallout
Create too much weight on the natural lash
Get tangled during removal

It also makes cleansing harder, which can affect retention and eye hygiene.

Do DIY lashes damage natural lashes?

DIY lashes themselves don’t usually damage natural lashes when they’re applied and removed properly.

Damage typically happens from:

Using too much adhesive
Pulling the lashes off instead of removing them gently
Wearing clusters too long
Applying clusters that are too heavy
Stacking too many lashes on one natural lash

To keep natural lashes healthy:

Use lightweight clusters
Remove with a proper remover
Never pull or peel them off dry
Clean the lash line between wears
Give your lashes breaks if they feel weak

When applied correctly, many people wear DIY lashes regularly without noticeable damage.

How long do DIY lashes last?

DIY lashes typically last anywhere from 1 to 10 days depending on the adhesive, application, and aftercare.

Most people wear them:

1–3 days for lighter wear
5–10 days with stronger bond systems and proper care

Retention can be affected by:

Oily skin or skincare products
Steam, rubbing, or sleeping position
How much adhesive is used
Lash placement and sealing

To make DIY lashes last longer:
